How long does it take to complete?

This qualification works differently from one-off exams, where all children receive their results at the same time. Your child’s band leader will follow their progress within regular band lessons and performances and will let you know when they have built up enough skills to be awarded the qualification. There are four levels of qualification which are available. The level a child receives will depend on how long they have been with Rocksteady and their musical experience. This official qualification is a great way to celebrate all their achievements, no matter what level they are at. It also complements the additional benefits that children enjoy as part of the programme such as confidence, wellbeing, and social skills. 

The different levels are: • Pre-initial • Initial • Grade 1 • Grade 2. Each level has slightly different learning and assessment criteria.
